Late last week I stopped by a friend's house to catch up and take a look at his pc which had been acting up. Immediately upon seeing his screen I noticed that it was using a Bank Of America type hostname and was still loaded with custom SSH connection software(private keys included) with saved connection templates for internal servers and some obvious banking applications. When I inquired as to where he picked this machine up he said that he got it from a very large lot of machine BoA had sold after the major banking crisis a few years back. Needless to say, I will be following up on this, determining how many of these un-wiped machine were sold and will be running some data recovery tools to see what type of sensitive information I can gleam from the machine. I will post follow-ups on this here.

Security news aside,I am currently planning our 4th of July with the wife though nothing sounds appealing with the 100+ degree weather North Carolina has been going through these days. Anyone with suggestions feel free to shoot them my way.
